FAQ

  • The earlier the better, around 10-16 weeks. Usually the first few initial appointments with your puppy will be about gaining trust and confidence in the grooming salon. Trying to achieve a complete haircut on a puppy can be difficult for their first time in the salon because they are in a new and unfamiliar environment. Focusing on getting them used to the noises, tools, bath, and table is the most important step to ensuring your puppy will be successful when it comes to grooming.

  • I generally take about 2-2.5 hours for most of my dogs, however if you have a large or extra large dog it could take up to 4 hours to complete a full groom. When you drop off I’ll give an estimated time. I’ll call or text 30 minutes before I’m done.

  • Yes! All dogs are welcome here!

  • Personally, I like to evalute a dogs behavior without the addition of sedating and/or anti-anxiety medications. If your dog has not previously used these types of medications before I highly recommend to not sedate them until I can completely evaluate whether or not they need it in the salon. Most times if they are sedated for the first time when grooming it can be an uncomfortable situation for your dog.

If your dog has been on sedation medication before and you would like to continue then please feel free! You know your dog best.

  • If your dog had tight mats that were shaved out during grooming, their skin can be easily irriated due to blood flowing back rapidly to these areas. I do my best to counteract this reaction with a dog-safe anti-itch cream. This may relieve some of the irritation, but may not fully make it go away.

If your dog won’t stop itching/scratching, you can attempt to put a cone around their head and/or apply hydrocortisone cream and gauze cover to the area.

  • A 24 hour notice is greatly appreciated if you cannot make your appointment, however you will not be charged if you need to make a last minute cancellation or are late to your appointment.

  • I use high end luxury dog grooming products made by iGroom and IV San Bernard

  • I don’t recommend trimming mats/tangles in between grooms if they are tight and in sensitive/fragile areas (groin, ears, armpits, paw pads), these places are very easy to knick with scissors.

If you are interested in doing at-home maintenance for your dog, I will happily show you any techniques you desire!

  • Working with dogs and scissors can be difficult, and accidents sometimes happen. This is why I decided to become trained and certified in CPR and First Aid for dogs. I will evaluate your dogs injury and then notify you immediately. If your dog needs to be taken to a vet I will let you know and cover any vet bills.
